BICHOLIM: The water levels of Bicholim, Valvanti and Tillari rivers have risen rapidly after the Bicholim taluka and hilly regions were lashed by incessant rains. The pumping of water in Sankhali started last night and all the four doors of Anjunem Dam have been opened for discharge.
The water at Anjunem Dam had risen up to 93.26 meter and 28.50 cusecs is being discharged through all four doors, informed the dam engineer Rama Gawas. The Tillari River has crossed the threat level and the road at Bhedshi is under water. The water level in Amthane Dam has risen along with the Chapora River. The Bicholim fire tender said that roads at various places have gone under water due to clogging.
On Sunday, 138 mm of rains were recorded in Tillari Dam region taking the total to 3294.80 mm. MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye and CM Dr Pramod Sawant have ordered concerned authorities to take all the necessary precautions.
