The two issues prompted some school managements to call on Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar seeking his intervention as three more institutions are expected to shift to Cujira in the coming academic year.
A source said the meeting, also attended by Panjim MLA Siddharth Kunkalienkar, and officials of PWD and Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation besides others concerned, resolved to sort out the problems by June.
“The CM was briefed about the existing and the upcoming infrastructure at the complex. Problems related to the roads, water connection and public transport for teachers and students were discussed. The PWD has been asked to lay the pipeline by June. A ring road for access to the highway will also be done,” one of the officials said, quoting the CM’s assurances.
One of the schools authorities revealed that during extra classes, students are asked to carry an extra water bottle while water for toilets is sourced from bore wells. Similarly, on the transportation front, Bal Rath buses are few and at times students pool vehicles to reach to school.
Dempo College of Commerce and Mushtifund High School are expected to shift in the coming academic year while Rosary HS will move in the second term.
