President Trump, who is eager to expedite the resolution of the conflict with Russia, has insisted that Ukraine provide access to its rare earth minerals as a means of offsetting the substantial wartime aid it has received from the Biden administration. This deal emerged after a week of tense exchanges between the two leaders, following a notable shift in U.S. policy that includes engagement with Russia. President Trump indicated that Zelensky intends to travel to Washington on Friday to formalize what he described as a “very big deal.”
