Missing senior citizen raises kidnapping concerns

PANJIM: Porvorim police are on the lookout for a 27-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped an 87-year-old woman from Porvorim.

Porvorim PI Jivba Dalvi said they have registered an offence against Dileshwar Patra who was working as a caretaker in a home for the aged in Moira.
It was at this home that Patra got in touch with Nativadade Fernandes who had been living there for three years. According to Police about a month ago Fernandes and Patra left the home for the aged and began residing in a rented apartment in Porvorim. They disappeared from the apartment some days ago.
Police said that around Rs 4 lakh has been withdrawn from Fernandes’ bank account. Sources said Fernandes had around Rs 7 lakh in her account and she also owns property in Candolim worth Rs 3 crore.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by one of her friends that Fernandes had gone missing. PI Dalvi said the search to trace Patra and Fernandes is on and teams have been sent to different places in Goa.
