Of the 196 projects, 86 have more than 90 per cent of the work completed. The chief minister said that despite mining revenue loss the government has taken up various developmental projects, including 25 projects which were commenced by the previous Congress government.
The chief minister said that five government colleges have been refurbished spending Rs 123 crore and 194 primary schools have been upgraded and four new primary schools are in the process of construction.
Regarding the South Goa district hospital, Parsekar said that work on the 800-bed hospital will be completed by the end of 2016 and in the next six months the nursing institute will be completed which will train a minimum of 100 nurses annually. The project was delayed because the government had to review the planning of the hospital.
On the Sanquelim sewerage treatment plant, Parsekar said that people are not ready to take sewerage connections to the plant which has been constructed. The chief minister said there was a need of this plant in some other towns which was tendered by the Congress-led government in 2006.
As the plant was proposed by the Sanquelim municipality now the municipality should take the initiative to take it further and give connections. GSIDC had approved the project in October 2006 whereas the stipulated completion time was October 2008.
