CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Municipal Council chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas on Wednesday was voted out of office by 8-0 vote margin in a no-confidence motion.
Lavita and Councillor Premdeep Dessai remained absent for the meeting which was held on Wednesday.
Penzy Coutinho, Succorina Coutinho, Kiran Naik, Polita Carnero, Angela Paiginkar, Videsh Dessai, Ashok Fadte and Mario Morais voted in support of the motion.
Sagun Velip was the returning officer.
Meanwhile, Videsh will hold the chairperson post till the next chief is elected. It is also learnt that Angela Paiginkar will be given the chance to occupy the hot seat.
