Infant badly injured in taxi-bus collision at Usgao

Nine others escape with minor injuries

PONDA: A six-month-old infant was badly injured and nine others escaped with minor injuries when a tourist taxi collided against a bus at Tisk-Usgao, on Wednesday.

According to sources, the tourist taxi was proceeding from Usgao towards Ponda when it had a head-on collision with the bus. It is learnt that the family from Dabolim was returning from a pilgrimage in Karnataka when the tourist taxi driver fell asleep and rammed the vehicle into the bus.

Six-month-old infant was badly injured while the tourist taxi driver Shankar Chowgule (48), Amruta Chowgule (24) Puja Chowgule (46), Pallavi Azgaonkar (8) Renuka Azgaonkar (29), all from Dabolim sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College. 

While four passengers of the bus who sustained injuries were shifted to Ponda Sub District Hospital. Both vehicles were damaged badly. PSI Sanket Talkar is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Tushar Lotlikar.
