Ponda: The family members and Khandepar locals refused to take possession of ripper machine driver Manoj Naik’s body as they were yet to get assurance from Sesa Goa Vedanta over the compensation to be given to Naik’s family.
The locals also alleged that no post-mortem was conducted on Naik’s body.
It may be recalled that Naik along with the ripper machine had fallen in the Codli mining pit on December 2. Naik’s body was found on Tuesday evening almost 36 hours after a search operation conducted by personnel from Fire and Emergency Services, National Diaster Responce Force (NDRF). The body was later preserved at the GMC for post-mortem.
