Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday said that the Transport department has launched the Village Level Entrepreneurs ( VLE ) initiative in Mormugao Taluka and even organized an orientation program of Parivahan services in association with the Transport department at Dabolim.
Godinho speaking to reporters after inaugurating a dry fruit shop in Dabolim said that the VLE initiative would help a lot of people be self-employed as these people would now be able to offer various RTO services to the people arriving at the RTO offices.
“There has to be an improvement in citizen services and our emphasis is on the digitization of most of the services in RTO and as fast as possible. The interface of the people with RTO staff and officials is trying to be upgraded so that people don’t even have to visit the RTO and we have got as many as 60 services on a digital platform. ” Said Godinho
Godinho said that some people were still going to the RTO to get certain services
” We have seen that there used to be agents outside RTO Offices but we have now created Village level entrepreneurs and we will allow these people to get the RTO works done and we will allow them to officially charge Rs 100 per service from the people. If one person gets 20 services, they can easily make Rs 2000 a day and this will act as a self-employment opportunity. Whenever they want, they can work because there will be many such people who will work to help people with different services of the RTO and people will have a choice of going to anyone who is present at that particular time. ” said Godinho
“This is one department where all the public mix and we will have a little bit of employment for everyone. We have launched this system in Mormugao as of now and we will launch this services across Goa soon and at the same time we will also see the digital footprint increasing as well ” said Godinho
Godinho also spoke on the inauguration of the Customs Museum at the hands of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and said that customs department had contributed to the well being of the country in its own way and also hailed the efforts of PM Narendra Modi for having implemented GST while adding that the recent collection was as much as 1.40 lakh crores
Godinho said that it was nice to have a world-class dry fruit shop opening at Dabolim
” There was a demand to have a CISF colony in this area but I insisted that they can go to the interiors while we can develop this place for private players and we have world-class facilities coming up in the area. We are happy that a world-class outlet of dry fruits is come up here” said Godinho
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar appealed to the people to come to the shop and see for themselves the variety of items available
Shop owner Fahad Kutty said that this was their 125th store in India. ” We are sourcing dates from Madina and many other countries and we also have various other dry fruits available at this store,” said Kutty
