PANJIM: The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has appealed to the people to report existence of sale of liquor and sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products surrounding areas of schools, educational institutions including coaching centres for children to the Child Welfare Police Officers or nearest police stations.
The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Peter F Borges said that a joint action plan on “Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse Among Children and Illicit Trafficking” has been formulated by the National commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with the National Control Bureau (NCB), to streamline all strategies and efforts made various authorities, institutions and agencies to bring paradigm shifts in the direction of drugs and substance abuse prevention amongst the children in the country.
Borges has sought help of the public to report to the Goa Police, who are directed to conduct special drive in line with the legal provisions with regard to sales of liquor and sales of biddies/cigarettes, gutkha and other tobacco products surrounding areas of schools/educational institutions including coaching centres for children.
