PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday ruled out early Assembly elections in Goa.
“Government was elected for five years. I will not like to reduce it by five months or even five weeks. The elections will be held at the right time,” Parsekar said.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Patrakar Din function, Parsekar said the term of the Goa Legislative Assembly ends in March 2017. He refused to respond to media reports that the Election Commission of India might schedule elections in November this year.
Parsekar said BJP is not bothered about the Shiv Sena Goa unit’s comments that they would not ally with the party and stated BJP has grown across the State.
