PANJIM: St Xavier’s College, Mapusa; Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar, & Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, excelled at the Inter-Collegiate Swimming Championship for Men and Women organised by Goa University, at the SAG swimming pool, Campal-Panjim, recently.
A total of 10 events were held across both the men’s and women’s categories and a total of 25 colleges participated.
Best Swimmer-Man was awarded to Aryan Sharma of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar; while Best Swimmer-Woman was awarded to Alaqua Agnelo Brito of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
The championship witnessed four new championship records: Men – 200m Free Style: Aryan Sharma (2:10:38) Dhempe College of Arts and Science. 100m Free Style: Aryan Sharma (57:53) Dhempe College of Arts and Science.
Women – 50m Butterfly: Alaqua Agnelo Brito (00:30:87) St Xavier’s College. 50m Free Style: Alaqua Agnelo Brito (00:28:06) St Xavier’s College.
Overall championship result: Men winners (joint): Dhempe College of Arts and Science. Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda.
Third Place: Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College & Research Centre, Pernem. Women winners: St Xavier’s College. Runners-up: VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Management, Manora-Raia. Third Place: Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
