BENAULIM: Betalbatim SC defeated Varca SC 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 27th Super Soccer inter-village football tournament at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.
In the first half Betalbatim SC in the 18th minute through Klusner Pereira shot from half-way line but went over Varca SC goalkeeper, Carmo Rebello. Betalbatim SC made it 1-0 in the 20th minute through Klusner Pereira.
Varca SC had the chance to score in the 29th minute but Jason Fernandes’s move was foiled by the rival defender. In the dying minutes of first half Jason Fernandes of Varca SC’s long shot hit the crossbar of Betalbatim SC and went out of play.
In the second half, Kingslee Fernandes squandered an opportunity for Betalbatim SC Austin Fernandes made it 2-0 for Betalbatim SC in the 39th minute. Soon in the 45th minute Austin Fernandes scored his brace and made it 3-0 for Betalbatim SC.
Later, Nash Pereira of Varca SC pulled one goal back in the 55th minute making it 3-1.
