PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said that the government will implement the 7th Pay Commission on January 31.
Addressing media persons, Parsekar said, “On January 31, the State government will implement the 7th Pay Commission scales in Goa and people will cast their votes on 4th Feb.”
Reacting to Chief Election Commissioner’s (CEC) statement that there were complaints regarding misuse of social welfare schemes during poll campaign, Parsekar rubbished allegations that BJP was using government welfare schemes to lure voters.
“There is nothing wrong in using government schemes in poll campaign. BJP has the right to project the schemes. This does not violate the election code of conduct. We are asking for a positive mandate. We are not talking against anyone. You can say it as a violation if we sanction any scheme to anyone during the code of conduct period,” Parsekar said.
Parsekar also said that an image is being intentionally created during every Assembly elections that the Church in Goa is opposed to the BJP. “During every election, it is projected and is falsely interpreted that Church in Goa is against the BJP. The Church is a religious body and I would not like to comment on it. Some years back the minorities would look at BJP in a different view but today the trend is changing and the minorities are supporting the BJP.”
He added, “Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza was the first candidate from the minority community to accept our candidature and today he has become an integral part of the Goa government.”
Further stating that BJP is confident of returning to power based on its performance he said, “BJP has given quality infrastructure and robust social welfare schemes and with this the BJP has given Goa a very stable government. I can claim that our government has done fairness to the mandate given by the people in 2012.”
He added further “Our 2017 election manifesto would mainly focus on unemployment issues and make Goa unemployment free.”
