Now we seem to lose count because of our hyper-activities and over sensitivity to anything under the sun. We are now being led by activists, leaders, NGO’s, propaganda unleashed at public meetings, press, social media etc. We seem to have lost our judgment to believe implicitly all the pseudo leaders and their coloured arguments
Is there anything today, where there is unanimity and we agree or see it as an attempt to improve our lot? At the same time we want growth and development, create jobs and fuel industrial growth. The protest are over golf clubs, hotels, marinas, Raheja’s projects, bridges and road extensions, MoI communalizing the issue, defence expo, 3rd bridge over River Mandovi, building of Mopa airport, coal terminal at Marmagoa, welfare schemes, entry of SUMUL dairy, extension of term VC to Goa University, restarting mining industry, expenses on IFFI, infrastructure national games.
Environmentalist jump on the bandwagon to visualize degradation of environment and thwarting the line of no development zone. We are concentized about ill-effects on extension of roads, National Highways, coconut tree being downgraded as palm, objections to new industries in embryonic stage, fish meal plant at Cuncolim Industrial estate, RP 2021 is the bone of contention, death of Fr Bismarque, sale of Vanxim property, shifting of High Court premises, wearing of compulsory helmets. The voters are forced to see and made to believe every action of the Govt is on enemy lines.
These protests and movements provide an opportunity to the rise and project themselves as new leaders, a platform for arbitration and gain in esteem and popularity. Vigilance is no doubt desirable but seeing red at every stage in every scheme is definitely counter-productive. It is most desirable to suggest alternatives and analyze dispassionately with cool emotions. We need to be cautious against being intellectually misled and taken for granted of our sympathies and unconditional support.
