Singh, who is residing at Raj Bhavan, will leave for Delhi on Friday afternoon after commissioning of the vessel. The official function will be held at 10 am at Mormugao.
The ship will be deployed for ocean surveillance and for monitoring sea lanes of communication. The ship is capable of cruising at a speed of 23 knots and has a range of 6,000 nautical miles.
The in-house-designed offshore patrol ship is well equipped to undertake search and rescue operations, pollution control and external fire fighting.
The vessel, which will be commissioned in the presence of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, is the third vessel of the Sarathi Class vessels being designed and built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited.
It is fitted with most advanced, state-of-the-art technology, navigation and communication equipment, sensors and machinery. The features include an integrated bridge system, integrated machinery control system, power management system and high power external fire fighting system.
Though, during his visit, Singh is expected to do some fire fighting between the ongoing controversy surrounding the RSS Goa prant, RSS national heads and BJP, the party officials have denied any such meeting.
Sources said that Singh is in Goa to attend government function and not on party visit.
