PONDA: The post of sarpanch is still vacant in Volvoi panchayat for want of a seconder.
The post of sarpanch is reserved for women in this five-member panchayat.
Of the five elected members, three are men and they are all BJP supporters; the remaining two are women owing allegiance to MGP.
One of the two women panch had filed her nomination for the post of sarpanch and her name was proposed by the other woman.
However, the aspiring sarpanch had no one to second her, as such her nomination has been rejected. Since then the aspiring sarpanch is unable to find anyone to second her, the post of sarpanch is still vacant.
