PERNEM: In view of the Arambol villagers’ threat to stage a rasta roko on November 27, Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte on Monday after inspecting the water supply sites, directed the Pernem PWD officials to resolve water supply issue within 36 hours.
It is pertinent to note that the Arambol villagers have threatened to resort to a road blockade on November 27 over irregular water supply to draw the PWD’s attention to their plight.
The road blockade will be led by former Arambol panchas Dilip Vast and Tony D’Mello.
However, on Monday when the MLA visited Arambol along with officers of PWD, the MLA directed the officials to resolve the issue with 36 hours failing which he warned of strict action.
However, the locals informed the MLA that two years ago the same issue was raised and officers were given instructions but, till date nothing has been done. The issue was raised at the gram sabha many times and several morchas were held but nothing has happened.
