PONDA: Town-based social worker Rajesh Verenkar, who recently joined the Congress and other locals threatened to stage agitation if the sewerage corporation fails to complete the sewage treatment plant work within two months. Addressing the media persons, they accused the corporation of taking them granted and for testing their patience by delaying the project.
Rajesh said, “Continuous road digging for past six years has forced Pondaites to drive along the pothole-ridden roads causing health problems as well as traffic congestion. The Ponda road conditions have turned from bad to worse but despite assurances from the PWD Minister and sewerage corporation officials the plant work has remained incomplete. Each year the officials claim that 95 per cent work has been completed. It’s now three years and they have only completed five per cent work. It appears they are taking us granted and we are left with no option but to come on road and protest against the slow pace of work.”

He said, “The work began in 2015 and the stipulated time for completing it was 2018 and now we are in 2021. It’s five years now we have gone through a lot of hardship on account of road digging which has worsened the road condition and now we have lost patience with the sewerage corporation for taking us for granted by repeatedly filling/digging roads for sewerage chambers.”
