BICHOLIM: The Bicholim fire station proposed near the industrial estate has stopped since last several months with no hope of its completion.

It may be stated that the Bicholim fire station is presently operational from near the old bus stand and there was a demand for a new fire station. In view of this a new fire station was proposed near the industrial estate.
The foundation stone of the fire station was installed on 16th January 2019 at the hands of the CM, Dr Pramod Sawant.
The work began in full swing but soon it was halted for the reason unknown. In between because of COVID restrictions the work came to a stand still.
For the project an area of 5479 sqmts was acquired and the project is coming up in an area of 2480 sqmts. The cost of the project was initially quoted at 11.28 crore but because of the delay now it is likely to rise. The residents have demanded with the local MLA to look into the matter.
