CURTORIM: Nowaddo Veterans thrashed Camaxete Veterans 4-1 in the final to win the Bhatora Veterans football tournament, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim recently.
Nowaddo Veterans faired in all departments, however Tony drew the first blood for Camaxete Veterans in the 10th minute with a powerful grounder.
Down by a goal, Nowaddo regrouped and came back strongly. Paulo Fernandes levelled terms in the 15th minute.
In the 20th minute, Paulo doubled the account for Nowaddo, while John Fernandes netted a brace in the 32nd and 43rd minute for Nowaddo.
Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco was the chief guest for the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Luis Pinto and other dignitaries.
The winners were awarded Rs 10,000 while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 8,000.
