St Britto, Loyola register big wins

Jonas D’Souza secured a hat-trick for the Mapusa school while Aaron Barreto did the same for the Margao school

PANJIM: St Britto High School, Mapusa and Loyola High School, Margao registered comfortable victories in their respective matches on day two of Royceton Gomes memorial inter-school football tournament invitation cup, at Belgaum, on Sunday. 
Jonas D’Souza secured a hat-trick for the Mapusa school while Aaron Barreto did the same for the Margao school.
In the first match of the evening, St Britto thrashed Islamiya School 4-0 after leading by three goals at half time.
The match began well as the teams fought hard to break the deadlock.
It was St Britto that went ahead after Jonas D’Souza opened the scoring with a neat finish. Islamiya tried hard to equalize but they could not stop Shaun Fernandes and Jonas from scoring goals in the 22nd and 24th minutes. 
Post resumption, St Britto continued in the same fashion and soon, Jonas registered his hat-trick in the 40th minute. 
In the second match, Loyola overpowered St Paul High School 6-0.
Aaron Barreto opened the floodgates for Loyola in the fourth minute. St Paul fought hard but the mighty Loyola seemed unstoppable by Warren Pereira, who doubled the advantage in the 18th minute. Then, Samwad Pereira scored in the 23rd minute and Aaron Barreto joined the party in the 25th minute to make it 4-0.
In the second session, Loyola continued their dominance as Warren secured his second goal of the match in the 41st minute. Aaron registered his hat-trick in the 50th minute, 6-0.
On Monday, St Stanislaus and Islamiya School will play the first match, at 3 p.m. followed by Don Bosco High School, Panjim v.St Paul High School, at 4 p.m.
