MARGAO: Salgaocar FC Juniors started their GFA U-14 League campaign on a rousing note with a 12-0 demolition of Verna SC in the match played at T B Cunha Sports Complex, Cansaulim, on Thursday.
Kenneth Da Costa was the star of the day as he netted five goals for his team. Josbern Cardozo and Movin Gauncar scored a brace each while Antush Moniz, Meldon Oliveira and Melroy Borges got one each to complete the thrashing.
At first half, Salgaocar FC Juniors were leading 4-0.
It was one-way traffic right from the outset with Merryston Fernandes under the Salgaocar bar having to make one save of a free-kick from Jason Vas through the entire game. Such was the dominance of The Greens, that had their forwards not been wasteful and erratic in front of goal, the score could have swelled even further.
The change of ends saw The Greens adding eight more goals to their tally.
At Seraulim ground, USC Seraulim defeated Young Strikers, Benaulim 3-2.
In the first half, the score was 1-1. Young Strikers opened the account through Keegan
Fernandes’ deft Placement shot in the 15th minute, in a solo effort. USC Seraulim equalised through Maclin Gomes off a supply by Riston Gomes in the 25th minute.
Crossing over, USC Seraulim doubled the lead with the efforts of Riston Gomes’ ground shot in the 46th minute. Again Maclin was on target in the 48th minute.
Young Strikers reduced the margin through Keegan in the 51st minute by half volley placement.
At Navelim ground, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda blanked Salcette FC 2-0. Sweden Rebello scored in the 33th and 56th minute of play to complete his brace.
