Girish Borker elected Chairperson of Mormugao Council

VASCO: Girish Borker, the councillor of Ward XVI, has been declared elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Mormugao municipal council. The declaration was made on Friday by the presiding officer Bhagwant Karmali.

Following his election, Borker expressed his gratitude, crediting the BJP for “elevating an ordinary worker to such a position”. He emphasized his commitment to undertaking development projects in all 25 wards without any bias. Resolving the issue of garbage, which has been a concern for the port town, will be his top priority, he added.

Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar, who was present during the announcement, highlighted that this was the first time in history that all councillors have united for the betterment of the municipality.

Subsequently, the newly elected chairperson, accompanied by the local MLA, attended a program organised by the anganwadi in Vasco.
