PANJIM: Don Bosco Oratory Club, Fatorda stormed into the semi-finals of the 43rd Bandodkar Memorial football tournament defeating Curtorim Gymkhana 3-1 in the match played, at MPT ground, Baina-Vasco, on Tuesday.
Don Bosco Oratory boys began the match on an attacking note in the first minute. Clive Miranda of Don Bosco Oratory made the first look at the rival goal. However, he failed in his attempt.
In the very second minute, Joel Camra of Don Bosco Oratory made an attempt to score but shot straight into the hands of the Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper.
In the 15th minute, Francis Andrade of Don Bosco Oratory tried to score from outside the D area, however, it missed the target hitting the crossbar and rebound into play.
In the 18th minute, Curtorim Gymkhana replaced goalkeeper Joel Fernandes with Christo Hilaro.
Francis in the 24th minute took a shot at the goal but was punched out by the goalkeeper of Curtorim Gymkhana leading to a corner.
In the resultant corner kick taken by Francis, Roque Borges converted with a rasping shot which crashed into the Curtorim Gymkhana net, 1-0.
Immediately, in the 28th minute, Clencio Pinto of Don Bosco Oratory dribbled the ball all the way to the danger area of Curtorim Gymkhana and unleashed a grounder to land in the back of the Curtorim Gymkhana net, 2-0.
Soon, Don Bosco Oratory’s Christopher Borges ran down dribbling the ball all the way to the Curtorim Gymkhana goal area, however, the rival defenders were too good and thwarted his efforts.
After the lemon break, Curtorim Gymkhana tried hard to narrow the lead by increasing the attack in the Don Bosco Oratory area.
In the 57th minute, Mario Masceranhas of Curtorim Gymkhana managed to break the jinx off a pass by Savio Fernandes, making it 1-2.
However, Clencio of Don Bosco Oratory again managed to net in another goal off a crisp pass by Joel, to complete his brace.
