Aquem locals petition against temple
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, JULY 3
Residents of Aquem on Friday told the Margao Municipal Chief officer not to grant permission for the construction of a temple in a residential locality.
The opposition to the temple construction was conveyed to the MMC Chief Officer Y B Tawde at a hearing fixed by the Civic body on Friday evening. Around 25-30 residents of the area submitted to the Chief Officer that the Temple, if permitted, would cause nuisance to the locality.
They maintained that that the place of worship would require a large area for parking, and feared that the vehicular parking would create nuisance to the inhabitants.
The lawyer representing the Temple Trust was handed over a copy of the complaint received from the residents. The Temple trust has been asked to file its reply to the complaint.
Chief Officer Y B Tawde later adjourned hearing of the matter to August 5.
