PORVORIM: The Pilerne-Marra gram sabha on Sunday witnessed heated discussion over the issue of sale of vast tracts of land allegedly by Pilerne Comunidade at a nominal price of Rs 100 per sq/mtr.
Peter Fernandes brought to the notice of the panchayat that Pilerne Comunidade sold 20,000 sq mtrs and 35,000 sq mtrs of land at nominal price of Rs 100 and Rs 157.50 per sq mtr respectively to builders in 2007.
“The panchayat should adopt a resolution and impress upon the Pilerne Comunidade that 80% of the plots should be allotted to the needy and deserving villagers at nominal price of Rs 100 per sq mtr,” he demanded.
Sarpanch Sandesh Bandodker said the Pilerne Comunidade is a different entity and the panchayat cannot interfere in the affairs of the comunidade.
“When the panchayat requested the Pilerne Comundidade to allot land to set up garbage treatment plant, the comunidade refused flatly,” said the sarpanch.
“In the gram sabha held on February 17, the villagers already adopted a resolution that Pilerne Comunidade should allot 80% of the plots to needy villagers and that the panchayat has already forwarded the resolution to the Pilerne Comunidade,” added Bandodker.
Narayan Sawant said in the Regional Plan, some land has been shown in Candolim village. “This land belongs to the Pilerne village and the panchayat should raise the objection and reclaim this land,” said Sawant.
The sarpanch said they have filed a writ petition in the High Court on May 10 objecting inclusion of the land in Candolim village.
Prakash Bandodker proposed that the panchayat should adopt a resolution demanding Special Status for Goa. After discussion, a resolution to this effect was adopted.
Panchayat Secretary Premanand Mandrekar presented Income and Expenditure statement for the year 2012-13 and Audit report for 2011-2012 and the informed the developmental works undertaken by the panchayat.
