Vasco fire fighters were kept on their toes, as heavy rains lashed the port town on Friday.
The day began with a fire brigade clearing a coconut tree that crashed on a house near the Goa Shipyard Ltd.
A jackfruit tree came crashing down in Velsao and in the evening, a coconut tree came down on live electricity wires at Bogmalo, causing a road blockade.
A fire brigade also cleared an oil spillage along the highway near Dabolim International Airport, when a vehicle accidentally discharged oil on the road, endangering other motorists. Vasco Fire Station In-charge Bosco Ferrao said they attended to five calls during the day.
Ferrao informed that Fire Officer Preetam Bandekar along with fire fighters Maruti Gaonkar, Kishor Satardekar, Jose Cardozo, Shailesh Dhuri and Vikash Chavan took part in the day-long operations.
