VASCO: An outhouse in Velsao was gutted in an LPG cylinder explosion on Monday.
Fortunately, the labourers residing in the outhouse had left for work. Verna fire tender experienced some technical snag and later called up their Vasco counterparts to extinguish the fire.
Verna fire station sources informed that they received a call about the incident at around 12.40 pm.
The Verna fire-fighting officials rushed to the spot, but were unable to douse the fire due to some technical issues.
Later, the officials contacted their Vasco counterparts who managed to extinguish the fire.
Taken by surprise over the sudden malfunctioning of the Verna fire tender, the locals demanded a fire station in the area.
Fire station officials informed that a LPG cylinder exploded and added that they managed to move out two more cylinders which were in the outhouse.
The loss is estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh; however, the fire-fighters managed to save property worth Rs 50,000.
Verna fire station sources informed that the outhouse belongs to one Ashok Sousa and some labourers were staying in it.
