CURCHOREM: National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team on Thursday morning retrieved the body of a 37-year-old woman Feelu Godinho from Capxem-Sanvordem from Zuari River at Curchorem-Sanvordem after over 24 hours.
The 18-member NDRF team headed by commander of 05 BN Arakhit Jena started the searching operations and within 20 minutes they recovered the body which was floating in the river just around 30 meters away from the spot where she had jumped in. The body was later handed over to Curchorem police.
According to Investigating Officer PSI Arun Endro, the body was handed over to her relatives for final rites after conducting post-mortem at Hospicio, Margao.
It may be recalled that a person, who was fishing near the banks of River Zuari on Tuesday saw the woman swimming a little distance after jumping from the bridge connecting Curchorem and Sanvordem and suddenly she disappeared.
On receiving the information about the incident, Curchorem police rushed to the site and called for the services of Curchorem Fire and Emergency Services, who began the searching operation with the help of an inflatable boat but failed to trace the body even after 24 hours.
