Govt to merge taxi services at airport

PANJIM: The government is expected to merge yellow-black taxis and white cabs services – stationed at Dabolim airport – by December, with uniform colour and label them airport taxis. For the first time the government has also said that digitized meters will be affixed on them to avoid complaints of overcharging.

“All the taxis – 250 yellow-black and 140 white taxis will be given uniform colour as decided by the government. We should implement this by December… The taxi operators were taken into confidence,” Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar revealed during a tourist event on Thursday.   Meanwhile, the government in most probability will review the entry fee levied on outstation vehicles vis-à-vis petrol prices in the coming budget 
session of the Goa legislative assembly.
