PANJIM: The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said that the Public Service Guarantee Act would be enforced from April 1, which will ensure time bound delivery of services to residents of the State.
“Through this Act all government related work will be expeditiously carried out and in a more transparent way,” he said, addressing the concluding function of the training programme held for BJP councillors and Zilla Panchayat members in Panjim on Saturday.
He conceded that work in many government departments is slow-paced and as such this Act will ensure time bound delivery of services.
The government has also proposed a road map for panchayats for better utilisation of funds and giving best services to its people.
Last year the State had assured to implement the Goa (Right of Citizens to Time-Bound Delivery of Public Services) Act starting from January 1, 2018. Heads of department had also been given instructions to create the required workforce for the implementation.
Till the end of last year, the government had brought over 497 public services of 40 departments under the ambit of the Act, which was introduced in 2013.
Department of Public Grievances notified various public services which are mostly related to the common man in connection with various certificates, permissions, disbursement of claims and compensations, no objection certificates, which should be provided in a time bound manner.
Government has also set target of March 31, 2018 to digitise all the government payments.
