MARGAO: It is quite the inexplicable to remove Margao municipality’s first IAS chief officer after much fanfare so quickly but the case stands to complete a full circle when the Urban Development Minister Francisco D’Souza makes his decision on the demolition notice served to former MMC chairperson Gonzaco Rebello.
It remains to be seen with the former chief officer Naven L S out of the way, will Naveen’s demolition notice be cancelled by D’Souza who has so far appeared to have played a major role in backing the demands of the ruling group of councillors.
On Wednesday, the petitioner Savio Dias who has challenged the stay order and it was on his complaint to the MMC that the demolition notice was served, submitted his written statement to the deputy chief minister. “I am deeply feeling hurt that the honest, upright IAS Officer Naveen S Laxman is transferred by the government which chanted tunes of zero level tolerance to corruption and better administration at one time,” said Dias.
While the matter has been adjourned for the last week of December it is pertinent to note that soon after the demolition notice was stayed, the musical chairs for the MMC hot seat escalated.
