PANJIM: PHC Candolim in collaboration with VP Arpora and the parish of Arpora-Nagoa celebrated World Health Day at Nagoa Parish Hall
The speaker for the day, Dr Marina Fernandes, Medical Officer, PHC Candolim, spoke on the risk factors attributed to the onset of hypertension through a power-point presentation. The most important of the risk factors, she said, were obesity, high salt intake in food, lack of exercise and stress. She emphasized on lifestyle modifications starting at an early age.
Sarpanch of Arpora Sushma Nagvekar, who was the chief guest, also spoke on the occasion. Extension educator of PHC Candolim, Daisy Vidwans, health officer Dr Maria Margret Sequeira and Chairman of the PHC hospital visiting committee Yeshwant Kandolkar were spresent.
