PANJIM: Authentic Goan sweets will be served and the traditional brass bands will welcome visitors to Goa at the Dabolim airport on World Tourism Day Friday, September 27.
The Tourism Department is celebrating World Tourism Day, this year, with panache in keeping with the international UN theme of water conservation.
World Tourism Day will feature events and programmes at Inox Courtyard on September 27 and 28.
The event will highlight the role of tourism in creating awareness on water conservation.
The event will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, along with Chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Nilesh Cabral and other Goa Tourism officials.
Addressing a press conference Wednesday, Parulekar said that this event will be a unique opportunity to examine and create awareness on water conservation among tourism stakeholders. This will not only be in sync with the theme of this year as announced by United Nations World Tourism Organization but will also highlight proper usage of water for the benefit of all.
Competitions on the theme are being held such as essay-writing competition, photography, etc on will be held from 6.30 to 10 pm.
The entertainment programme will feature live performances by Indiva ~ the all women fusion band from Mumbai of ‘Suno’ fame a song composed by the group in honour of the Delhi rape victim, Johnny Be Good, Varun Carvalho on the first day and versatile Fusion Musician and Bollywood singer, composer Goa’s very own Remo Fernandes and Talking Drums with Carlos. The event is organized in collaboration with Heritage Jazz.
