CANDOLIM: Pintos had to wait until the tie-breaker before securing a 6-5 win via the tie-breaker over Silver Sands Academy in the Friends Circle Candolim inter-ward tournament played at Candolim ground, on Saturday.
It was the Silver Sands colts who had the first crack at the rival goal, when in the 10th minute Nascent De Souza got the better of the Pintos defenders and unleashed a power packed shot which was brilliantly fisted away by the rival keeper.
Two minutes later Pintos took the lead when Nandu Kumar sent a perfect cross to unmarked Prakash Oli who scored through a firm placement making it 1-0.
Silver Sands did not was much time and within a span of two minutes levelled terms when Joel Fernandes curled in his freekick from the edge of the box to the far corner of the Pinto’s goal.
With the match ending in a draw the tie breaker was applied wherein Gauresh Korgaonkar, Sunil Oli, Sanyol Rodrigues and Johny Fernandes scored for Pinto’s while Joel Fernandes, Fransan Fernandes, Altam Alam and Nascent D’Souza shot on target for Silver Sands.
