PANJIM: Vasco Cager played it tough with Sonics to move into the semi-finals of the State Basketball Championship, organised by Goa Basketball Association, played at Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, on Friday.
Ashish Bhupal played a strong attacking game with 15 points to give a good margin 46-28 to ensure the Vasco Cagers a spot in the semi-finals.
In the women’s semi-final, Fatima Convent were in a winning streak right from the start when they took a 3 point lead in the first quarter. DBO Lynx did try hard to fight the southern might by narrowing the gap in the 2nd quarter, with Charmaine (9) and Piola Mendes (5) combining well. But this was not good enough for the already well set Fatima Convent who were consistent in their shooting with Michelle Noronha (9) and Kimeron Vas (7) who kept the balance for Fatima and won comfortably 28-21.
