MARGAO: A second half strike by Sanjay Lotlikar helped Joe Cookies, Loutolim overcome Chinchinim Veterans 1-0 to sail into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Joao Manuel and Joseph Fernandes memorial veteran football tournament, organized by Sun Moon Stars Veterans, at church ground, Chandor, Wednesday. There was no score at the lemon break.
Chinchinim Veterans were well served by former international and national players failed to assert the pressure on the rival citadel. They had a couple of gilt edged chances but their forwards ballooned over from hand-shaking distance.
Joe Cookies took time to settle down and once they struck the rhythm they called the shots against the rival citadel.
The second sessions saw Joe Cookies in better light with their forwards launching barrage of attacks.
The all-important goal came late in the second half when Sanjay Lotlikar bulge the net.
