The son of Goa enthralls the world

A son of St Estevam Island, Sushant Shivnath Tari, Managing director at TPT Productions Pvt Ltd, is delighted to work in Goa as the art director for the 45th International Film Festival of India. Right from the beautiful motif of the peacock as the logo for the festival to creating an appealing ambience for film lovers at the different venues, each piece is a signature style of Sushant

The Peacock, the national bird of India, is a glorious
creature; and Sushant Shivnath Tari, a Mumbai based art director, has given it
his own interpretation as the motif of this year’s IFFI. A graduate of Goa
College of Art, Sushant has been in this field for 25 years but nothing makes
him happier than coming back to Goa. “I come from St Estevam Island where my
mother and brother Santosh Tari still live. I come to Goa every 15-20 days
because it is my home and I’m deeply connected to my roots. So you can imagine
my delight when my team was asked to design for IFFI; my family and my fellow
Goans will now get to see my team’s work at different venues. This is a big
project and I feel great accomplishing it,” says Sushant Tari as he checks on
the final touches of the stage at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium
in Taleigao.

Working with a team of 16 supervisors and 200 skilled men
for this project, Sushant has eight Goan boys working with him, all graduates
from Goa College of Art. “They are all qualified boys and we share a great
understanding. However, we had to work on a very short notice. IFFI is
organised every year from November 20 to 30, yet we were not informed about the
undertaking in advance. This is creative work; the mind needs time to form a
process and come up with great ideas. I usually prefer working on corporate
projects rather than government ones because the former allows us more freedom
in the creative process and it is also less time consuming,” says Sushant.

TPT Productions has worked with companies like Turner
International, Encompass, Showtime, Showhouse, Wizcraft, Aura and even films
like ‘Kalapor’ and ‘Marma Bandh’. “Internationally, I recently worked for the
decor for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland with zero degree
temperature; it was an amazing experience.”

The work of Sushant and his team has been put up at the
airport, Entertainment Society of Goa, Kala Academy, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee
Indoor Stadium and the Promenade from ESG to Kala Academy. His aim while
working on this project was the satisfaction of everyone who is in Goa. “I
wanted to create a healthy atmosphere for people who come to see the films as
they should be able to enjoy the festival,” concludes Sushant.
