MARGAO: The Gandhi Market Welfare Citizens Association have cried foul over the lack of amenities for residents residing around the Gandhi market area.
Addressing the media, Sheikh Riyaz said the powers that be and the authorities have completely neglected the Gandhi market area for a long time now. The area is facing problems relating to drainage, garbage, traffic and underground cabling. “A visit to the Gandhi market would reveal that it is becoming another Sonsodo. The Municipality is not ready to tackle the garbage problem. All the waste is dumped in the residential locality and this raises an unbearable stink,” he said.
While demanding immediate action by the authorities to their long pending grievances, Riyaz has warned that the residents will have no option than to go on a hunger strike if their demands for better amenities are not.
