It’s not just the stray dog menace that is staring the Commercial Capital. Stray cattle too have made its presence felt in the city in a big way, with the Margao Civic body turning a blind eye to the nuisance.
Strange it may seem, but true that stray cattle was found inside the garden triangle right under the Margao Municipal building. With the City Fathers and Civic babus on a weekend holiday, stray cattle made their way inside the garden and feasted on the plants with the staff enjoying the festive mood back home.
In fact, stray cattle menace has made the congested city roads their second home, with the Municipal authorities least interested to crack a whip against the strays. Despite a cattle pound maintained at the old market area, hardly any stray cattle have been pounded in recent months, with workers entrusted with the cattle pound utilized for other works.
While the Civic body has been finding it difficult to run the dog shelter given the magnitude of the stray dog menace, the cattle pound is almost empty for want to cattle – with stray cattle apparently not on the priority list of the Civic babus.
