PONDA: Ponda vendors hiked prices of soft drinks and juices as the summer temperatures soared in the town.
However, with the showers in some places, including the Capital, on Tuesday, may bring some relief to the people.
People are trying to beat the heat by drinking lot of fruit juices, cold drinks, ice creams, etc. Some vendors, however, took this opportunity to hike the prices of juices.
Sugarcane juice that was sold at Rs 40 per litre is now selling at Rs 80. A lemon juice glass costs Rs 30 from Rs 20 earlier. The tender coconut price has been raised to Rs 35 from Rs 30. Beside these, all the fruit juice prices have also been hiked by Rs 10 per glass.
People are also buying watermelons which help them cool down as some go for the local variety of Mankurad sold at Rs 700 to Rs 1200 per dozen, depending upon the quality and size of the mango.
