DABOLIM: “The main purpose of the visit is to ensure the completion of work at the stadium since the Nehru Stadium is not available,” stated B Vijayan, chief secretary Government of Goa who alongwith Elvis Gomes, SAG’s ED inspected the renovation work at the Tilak Maidan following the request of Vasco MLA and KTC chairman Carlos Almeida, at Vasco.

Vijayan added that the Duler Stadium did not have facilities to telecast live matches and the same would be installed at the TIlak Maidan.
Highlighting that the Duler Stadium is not as per the I-League standards, Elvis assured that the Tilak Maidan will boast of good turf, floodlights, air conditioned officials’ and players’ dressing rooms and provision for live telecast.
“It was on my request that the inspection has been done at the stadium. The pace of the work is very slow and people of Vasco want the I-League matches here,” stated Carlos.
“The work should be completed by the end of January but may be delayed by a week or 10 days,” disclosed Carlos.
Actually the I-League matches were scheduled to be held from mid-December onwards at Tilak but the work got delayed and matches had to be shifted to Duler Stadium with one round matches forced to be postponed, as the original schedule of Tilak Stadium was delayed.
