PANJIM: Supreme Court appointed mining monitoring committee headed by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Karnataka Dr U V Singh would be on their second visit to Goa on January 10 and inspect ore lying at jetties, stockyards and leases in Goa.
Sheikh Naimuddin, Indian Revenue Services (retired) and former member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and Special Secretary to the Union Government and State Mines Secretary Pawan Kumar Sen are other two members of the committee.
The members would be given the inspection report prepared by Directorate of Mines and Geology appointed committees which includes amount and grade of iron ore. Based on this report, the committee would inspect ore at stockyards and mining leases.
The Singh committee that was in Goa in the first week of December, last year had issued directions to department for verifying the extracted unused ore stacked across the State. The monitoring committee has been directed to submit their report on e-auction of ore by February 18.
The Apex court has allowed e-auction of 11.48 million tonnes of ore lying in the state under supervision of monitoring committee which will look into the entire process of verification of the inventory, e-auction and deposit of sale proceeds in government fixed deposits.
