VASCO: Emphasis that a comprehensive transportation is the need of the hour in the State, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar assured that BJP’s State manifesto will include metro train facility for Goa. The manifesto is expected on January 25 or 26.
Parrikar was speaking to reporters after launching of BJP’s Vasco constituency manifesto on Thursday night.
“Though I will not speak more about the BJP’s state manifesto as the same is yet to be released, however, I want to inform the people of Goa that our manifesto will speak about comprehensive mobility plan for the State. How you travel across Goa. This will include electric buses, intercity buses and even metro (train) facility,” he said.
“Similarly, in our State manifesto, we have decided that all the current social welfare and educational schemes would be connected to inflation ratio, once BJP is voted to power. There will be automatic increase in the amount of the scheme based on the inflation index every two years,” he said.
Commenting on the claims made by Independent candidates that BJP would be supporting them, he said, “I have heard that there are some rumours that I will be supporting some Independent candidates where BJP has fielded its own (candidates). I want to make it very clear that BJP has fielded candidates in 36 constituencies and has extended support in four constituencies. Besides these four, I have not extended support to any other independent candidate,” he said.
BJP candidate Carlos Almeida said that BJP has set a target of 15 thousand votes for the 2017 elections. He said that BJP’s Vasco manifesto has been made considering demands and suggestions made by the people.
“We have decided to give free WiFi at specified public places. Likewise, we have promised construction of new modern fish and vegetable market in Baina and commercial market modern market site at Vasco, multilevel parking facility, upgradation of grounds etc.”
