MAYEM: Announcing a special package for mining-affected components, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that he has made a provision of Rs 150 crore to rehabilitate mining affected people and assured that the amount would be increased to Rs 600 crore if the Narendra Modi-led BJP government comes to power at the Centre.
Parrikar was addressing a public meeting at Bodke Maidan, Sanquelim, on Monday evening.
“Mining in Goa will start very soon after getting environment clearance with the help of Modi,” he said.
“Petrol prices may decrease throughout the country and on par with Goa, if the BJP government headed by Modi comes to power at the Centre. The poor and downtrodden sections of Goa have so far received Rs 500 crore in the form of different schemes and an attractive increment will be made in every scheme once BJP comes to power at the Centre,” assured Parrikar.
Accusing the Congress party and Ravi Naik for accusing him of stopping mining activities, Parrikar said Goans are literate to know the reality.
North Goa BJP candidate Shripad Naik said India is facing a threat of terrorism from counties like Pakistan, China and others besides naxalites due to weak leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Speaking in favour of the proposed Mopa airport, Sanquelim MLA Dr Pramod Sawant said the Mopa airport would create 35,000 jobs for Goan youth, while Deputy Speaker Anant Shet said the BJP has undertaken people centric developments.
Mangaldas Gawas, Pradeep Gawade, Upendra karpe, Adv Narayan Sawant, Vithoba Ghadi, Sulakshana Sawant and Shubhada Sawaikar also spoke on the occasion.
