bicholim: The Konkan Railway officials on Tuesday toured Mayem constituency in view of the problems faced by the locals for the last two years, ever since KRC transportation began through the Mayem village.
The tour was organised by Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye after villagers had approached him regarding the same.
During the tour, discussions were held on finding solutions to the farmers whose fields at Narvem and Shirgao were being affected. In addition, deliberations about providing employment opportunities to locals and the construction of an overhead bridge at Haldanwadi Mayem, were held. There were also calls for constructing a railway station at Shiran Vaiginim-Mayem and providing facilities for the villagers to cross the tracks across different spots in Shirgao.
The KRC officials assured to look into the matter while MLA Zantye asked to them to solve them on priority basis.
