South Goa Superintendent of Police Shekar Prabhudesai when contacted stated that suspicious persons are being detained and released only after verification at the respective police stations. He said those found unable to produce any verification are arrested under section 41 CrPC and later produced before the magistrate. The SP informed that Maina-Curtorim PI Harish Madkaiker, who is investigating the dacoity, has recorded statements of 35 persons including the victim. It may be recalled that during the early hours of November 30 eight-member gang of armed masked dacoits barged inside the bungalow of Allan Rodrigues at Davorlim and decamped with gold ornaments and cash after tying the occupants inside the house. While police have recovered a Grande i-10 car taken by the armed masked dacoits which was found abandoned at the SGPDA vegetable market, Margao, police are yet to trace the Suzuki Access scooter.
The dacoits had also carried one of the cell phones from the Rodrigues family and police are tracking the dacoits from calls.
