PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday directed the petitioner to make the National Highway Authority of India and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways parties, in a petition pertaining to illegal dumping of debris along the Panjim-Old Goa highway.
The court asked whether National Highway Authority of India and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways can use the debris in highway construction in the State.
Despite several directions from the HC, Goa government has failed to stop illegal dumping of building debris along the highway.
In view of debris dumped along the highway, activist advocate Aires Rodrigues has filed a contempt petition before the HC. The Court observed that the problem of debris exists because the government has not found the proper mechanism of debris disposal and proper designated places to dump the debris.
