PANJIM: A gas pipeline was damaged near Chest Disease and TB Hospital at St Inez by the contractor executing the sewer line works in the area for the Public Works Department (PWD).
The road was being dug up by the contractor using an excavator when it damaged the natural gas pipeline beneath the ground after which the gas started leaking.
Officials of the ‘Goa Natural Gas Private Limited’ were informed about the damage and subsequently a team of technicians rushed to the spot and they fixed the leakage.
“The pipeline damaged is of the natural gas supply for domestic use to households; we have repaired it and restored the supply. This gas is absolutely safe,” an official said.
